Outpatient Eating Disorder Therapy

You’re tired of feeling like thoughts about food and your body dictate how you spend your day.

It feels like you cannot escape the voice in your head that tells you that you are not thin enough, you ate too much, and the most important thing about you is the way you look.

Your body is not the problem. It never was. Our culture is structured to make us fit inside narrow constructs that oppress who we are. We will work toward body liberation. Body liberation is the freedom from social and political systems of oppression that designate certain bodies as more worthy, healthy, and desirable than others.

Here is what we will do together

  • We will work towards that by…

    1) Interrupting the disordered eating patterns that are controlling your life

    2) Letting go of rigidity and perfectionism with food

    3) Challenging the dichotomous terms we use with food like healthy/unhealthy, clean/junk, right/wrong

    4) Stopping ourselves from weighing, measuring, tracking, monitoring, and scrutinizing our food choices

    5) Understanding the influence of diet culture and weight stigma on our food choices

    6) Learning to listen to your body and discern the incredible wisdom that is coming from it

    7) Allowing for pleasure and satisfaction in your relationship with food

    8) Soothing the shame that can arise after eating certain foods

    9) Reconnecting with your body’s needs

  • We will do that by…

    1) Exploring where your narrative about your body came from

    2) Learning the foundations of Body Trust®

    3) Understanding the influence of weight stigma

    4) Redefining your relationship with your body

    5) Acknowledging the incredible ways your body shows up for you each day

    6) Rejecting the social constructs of beauty

    7) Grieving the body that you wanted

    8) Helping you remember you are more than a body

    9) Finding worth outside of your body

  • We will do that by…

    1) Addressing the underlying concerns that influence eating disorder behaviors

    2) Reclaiming your wholeness

    3) Bringing the full expression of who you are into the world

    4) Learning to prioritize your relationship with yourself

    5) Building a connection between you and your inner healer

Family-Based Treatment (FBT) for Adolescents and Young Adults

Family-based treatment (FBT) is one of the most successful treatments for eating disorders in children and teens. This model can be used with young adults who have familial support, as well. Assuming medical stability, this treatment allows those with eating disorders to remain home with their support system and engaged in their life while receiving treatment versus seeking services through a higher level of care.

I am certified in Family-Based Treatment (FBT) through the Training Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders.
